We are proud to share incredible initiatives as Mind the Switch that want to raise awareness about the impacts of excessive consumption.
Mind the Switch event allows you to exchange items of our wardrobe that we no longer appreciate (or no longer fit us), for “new” ones. The founder Joana Sternberg wants to spread the concept of detachment, which with a focus on “reuse, recover and reduce”, allows giving a new life and a new history to clothing. At the same time, this attitude allows the renovation of the wardrobe in a sustainable way, preventing waste and excess.
But how is Mind the Switch organized?
Participation in the event has a cost of € 25, which includes the switching, food, drink and music. For the exchange, each person can bring up to five items, which can be clothes, shoes or bags. As the items are exchanged for tokens on arrival, and to ensure that the exchange is fair, each piece will be categorized according to the type, its state and the brand, resulting in being worth a certain number of tokens. For example, a Zara coat will be worthless tokens than an Uterque coat.
No items will be accepted for the exchange if they are dirty or damaged. In the case it can be recovered, it can only be used for the upcycling workshop that takes place during the event as well.
In addition to the clothes that each participant brings, there will also be items from stores that donated their unsold collections, such as Mustique.
At the end of the event, if you have not managed to exchange all the tokens for new clothes, you can save and use it in the Mind the Switch event.
