The new Coronavirus has been declared a Pandemic and our actions are very important to help prevent the virus from spreading. One of the best ways to protect yourself is working from home.
We will share some tips here, so you can do it in the best way.
Choose an exclusive place in your house to work
It is extremely important to have at home, places for different activities. Our mind will always associate the place with the activity that we normally practice there. So if you rest in the same place you work, you will automatically feel more lazy and have greater concentration problems.
Psychologically, the space and environment around us can determine our posture and determination: 1. Choose a clean place / 2. Choose a place with good light, that is not too white or too dark, preferably with natural light / 3. Choose a comfortable chair that requires you to maintain a correct posture, so as not to affect your spine / 4. Always work preferably at a table.
Create a routine and a calendar
When we work in an office, it is normal to have a more rigid schedule. When we do not have a routine, it is usually because we are on vacation and therefore, in the face of a different situation like the one we currently live in, we can become lazy or confuse the situation.
To maintain our productivity, we need to maintain the same discipline required by a normal working routine and take advantage of the new workplace to increase our productivity.
Establishing a routine will help us to stay focused, stick to schedules and increase pressure, so that we can get more tasks done on schedule.
Some simple routine tips for working from home:
- Always shower at the same time;
- Maintain the same morning routines, working or not working from home (listening to the same radio, reading the same newspaper, etc.);
- Do not stop at any time, trying to maintain the same lunch time;
- Do not eat less or more;
- Fill a calendar with dates and tasks;
- Dress according to the profession and not as if we were at home on a Sunday afternoon.
Log-out from social media
It is very easy to lose concentration when working alone. It is extremely different from working together in an office and therefore can be lonely. For this reason, it is very common to “peek” sometimes on social networks.
However, this is a dangerous action, as a simple “peek” can become a 10/15 minute scroll. This means that the average total recovery time of the concentration takes another 15 minutes, which means more than 30 minutes of lost production.
One way to fight this temptation may be to log out of all social networks and thus make access to them more difficult. It is then necessary to think twice before giving in to temptation and thus we will more easily give up on it.
Do not work with family members
In view of the current situation, we should all stay at home to help prevent the spread of the coronavirus. Staying at home, most of us are probably not alone, living with family or colleagues.
When we are not used to sharing the work environment with the family, we will certainly confuse family routines with work routines and there will be many distractions.
It is important to work in different spaces and try to remain separate during working hours.
Listen to podcasts
Without co-workers, without family members around and without social networks, we can start to feel alone and bored with working from home.
A good alternative is listening to podcasts, which you don’t necessarily need to do with headphones. However, do not turn the volume up too high, so as not to interrupt your thinking.
Take care of your back
With this unexpected pandemic, many of us were not prepared to work from home, with a practical secretary and a good column chair. With this lack of conditions at home, back pain will start to appear. What can you do to improve?
During the day, you should get up from your chair, do some stretching and walk for 2 minutes. At the end of the day, try to do a minimum of 15 minutes of yoga.
Your sleep is also extremely important. Try to sleep in a correct position for your back, with the proper pillow and a mattress that is beneficial to your spine.
